Gift Face Privacy Notice
Effective date: October 18, 2026
Last Updated: October 19, 2026
1. Who we are and what this covers
Gift Face is a free web game at confi.ai/giftface (the "Game"), operated by Confi Technologies, Inc., 513 W Shoreview Drive, San Ramon, CA 94582, United States ("Confi," "we," "us").
This notice covers only the Game. The Game has no account and no sign-up. Other Confi products have their own privacy notices.
2. Notice at collection (summary)
| What | When we collect it | Why | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your shared video details: your character, she/he choice, look choices, outfit, and first name if you typed one. If you added a photo, also: a small picture of your face, four numbers that say where the mouth sits in that picture, and one colour value from your photo so the cartoon skin around your face matches | When you tap Share, or "Save video + copy caption" (under More → Post to social), even if you then cancel | To show your video to people who open your share link | Deleted automatically 60 days after the first time you tap Share. Sharing again does not extend this |
| A daily count of how many times your shared video details were sent | When you tap Share | To limit abuse | Deleted within 2 days |
| Your answers to questions 1 and 2 | When you answer | To pick your character | Not stored. Only the resulting character is kept, as described below |
| Your answer to question 3 | When you finish question 3 | To count, in total, how many players pick each answer | Kept only as an anonymous daily total, with no device ID, share code, name, or IP address. 120 days |
| A random device ID, created by the Game in your browser, linked to: your share code, your character, any test version of the Game you saw, the campaign tag in the link you opened (if any), the share code of the person who invited you (if any), how many friends joined from your link, and how many invites away from a first player you are | When your video first plays | To run share links, stop abuse, and count how the Game spreads | 12 months after it is created, then deleted automatically |
| For each share link: how many times friends opened it, watched it, and went on to make, play, finish, or share their own video. Nothing about the friends themselves | When a friend opens your link | To measure how the Game spreads | 12 months after the first friend visit, then deleted automatically |
| Daily counts of Game events (for example, "a video was shared today"), split by character, device type (iPhone, Android, computer, other), and which app's built-in browser was used. No device ID, share code, name, or IP address | As you play | To measure and improve the Game | 120 days |
| IP address | On each request: our host, Cloudflare, processes it to deliver the page | Security and rate limiting | We do not store it. When a new share code is created, we keep a one-way, secretly salted hash of it in an hourly counter, deleted within 2 hours |
We do not collect your email address, phone number, contacts, or precise location. We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. There are no ads in the Game.
3. Your photo and how your face is placed
- When you add a photo, face-finding software runs only in your browser, on your device. It finds where your eyes and mouth are so the Game can fit your face into the cartoon. Your full photo is never sent to us.
- If you tap Share, three things go with your video so friends can watch it: a small picture of your face, four numbers that say where the mouth sits in that picture, and one colour value taken from your photo. They are used only to draw your video for people who open your link.
- We do not create or store face templates or face prints, and we do not use facial recognition to identify or match anyone.
- If you do not tap Share or "Save video + copy caption", your photo and everything taken from it stay on your device.
4. Your answers
- Questions 1 and 2 pick your character on your device. We keep only the character.
- Question 3 is counted only in anonymous daily totals. It is not saved with your device ID, your share code, or your video, and friends who open your link never see it.
5. Information stored on your device
The Game stores a few items in your browser so it works when you return: the random device ID, your share code and friend count, the first name you typed, the invite code from the link you opened, and, if you tap Play again, your previous video so you can watch it again. This stays on your device. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings. The Game does not use advertising cookies.
6. How we use information
- To make your video and let friends watch it.
- To run, secure, debug, and improve the Game.
- To count plays and shares in aggregate.
- To comply with the law and enforce the Gift Face Terms of Use.
We do not use Game information for advertising or to train artificial intelligence models, and we do not use it to build a profile of you. The character the Game gives you is a joke, not a judgment or a profile.
7. Who receives information
- People you share with. Anyone who opens your share link can see your video, including your face picture and any first name you typed.
- Apps you share through. When you send your link in a messaging or social app, that app may fetch a preview showing your first name and character (with a stock cartoon picture, not your face), and handles your message under its own privacy policy.
- Service providers. Cloudflare hosts the Game and stores Game data for us. The Game's pages load nothing from other companies' servers, and we do not use any third-party analytics or advertising tools in the Game.
- Legal and safety. When required by law, or to protect people, the Game, or Confi.
- Business transfers. If Confi is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this notice.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of selling or sharing. Because we do neither, nothing else changes.
8. How long we keep information
| Information | Retention |
|---|---|
| Shared video details (face picture, mouth position numbers, colour value, look choices, first name) | 60 days after the first time you tap Share; sharing again does not extend it |
| Daily count of shared-video updates for your link | Up to 2 days |
| Device-ID record | 12 months after it is created |
| Per-link friend counts | 12 months after the first friend visit |
| Question 3 totals and other daily counts (no identifiers) | 120 days |
| Hashed IP rate-limit counts | Up to 2 hours |
We may keep information longer only if the law requires it or to handle a specific report or legal claim.
9. Adults only
The Game is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a child's photo or information is in the Game, email admin@confi.ai with the share link.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and how we use it;
- get a copy of it;
- have it deleted;
- have it corrected; and
- not be treated differently for using these rights.
To make a request, email admin@confi.ai with your share link and what you want us to do. We can delete a shared video for anyone who sends us its link. To get a copy of your records, we may ask you to confirm the request from the device you shared from. You may use an authorized agent. We will respond within 45 days, as the law allows. We will not ask for more information than we need to find your records.
If you are in the EU or UK: we rely on your consent (the photo you choose to share) and on our legitimate interest in running and securing the Game. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
11. Deleting your face picture
- Every shared face picture is deleted automatically 60 days after the first time you tap Share. Sharing again does not extend it.
- To delete it sooner, email admin@confi.ai with your share link.
12. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect Game data, including random, hard-to-guess share codes. No system is perfectly secure. Remember that anyone with your share link can view your video.
13. Where information is processed
Confi is based in the United States. Our service provider may process Game data in the United States and other countries where it operates.
14. Changes
We may update this notice by posting a new version at this address with a new "Last Updated" date. If we start collecting new kinds of information, we will update this notice before we do.
